Rules of the game

Game day stages

Discussion (also called “Chaos”) — at this time, video chat is turned on for all players, everyone can talk, see and hear each other. This is the time for discussion. At this time, you can cross-examine and find out from the answers and reactions of the players who has what role. Although the Discussion is a very important stage, it can be disabled by the host in the room settings. The Discussion does not turn on when there are more than 8 players alive in the game.
Speeches — this is the most important time for every player to speak up and not worry about being interrupted. The application will automatically mute the cameras and sound of other participants. All players take turns. An important function of this stage is the ability to nominate another player for a vote. Nomination means that you suspect the person of having a black card. Voting — this is the day stage where the city decides who will leave the game during the day. This is the only time when peaceful people can work together to destroy organized crime in the city. And this is their only chance to win. Voting is carried out if there is more than one nominated participant. Each voter can choose one candidate. The one with the most votes leaves the game. If in the game Mafia the vote is equal between two or more candidates, a re-vote is held.
Re-vote — This stage is carried out only if, as a result of voting, it was not possible to determine the outlier. Before re-voting, each of these players has a chance to be acquitted (additional speeches). If two candidates are nominated for re-voting, then these candidates do not vote.

Mafia night

At night, active players perform their roles. In the Mafia application on your phone, all active players can act at night simultaneously to shorten the time of night and make the game more dynamic. The algorithm automatically takes into account the correct order of night events. After the end of the night, all participants are given the result. Players killed during the night may have the last word. In his last word, the player can tell who he suspects of his death, give a will or a game plan. Mafia

The Mafia Role is the main killer card in the game and the only mandatory card that is always in the deck. The number of mafias is determined by the formula: number of participants / 4. If desired, the host can add one additional mafia card to the deck.

Features of the Mafia card

If there are two or more Mafia cards in play, all Mafiosi must make the same choice at night, otherwise it is considered a miss and no one dies. At night, mafiosi see each other's choices and can adjust their own choices. If they have a walkie-talkie, they can also communicate secretly during the game night. During a daytime discussion, it is dangerous for a mafioso to interrupt others, as this will be immediately noticed by other roles.

Game with the Don card

If there is a Don card in the deck, the game works differently. Zero night occurs, the “Mafia Gathering”, in which mafiosi can see each other. They can communicate if they have a walkie-talkie. On night zero, Don sets the rules for killing on subsequent nights. In subsequent game nights, the mafiosi do not see each other's choices and cannot communicate at night, regardless of the presence of a walkie-talkie. The choice of the player to be killed is determined by the strategy set by Don on zero night.

Mafia strategy game

The first priority for the mafia is to destroy active roles. These are roles such as sheriff, maniac, doctor, lady. The sheriff is especially dangerous for the mafia. If there is a spy in the game, the mafia's job is not to accidentally kill the spy. During the day, it will be a good strategy for the Mafia to support one of the red cards. This will help get a voice in your support, and if the mafia is exposed, it will also cast suspicion on the player who supported the mafia (the latter only makes sense if there are at least two mafias in the game). For a similar reason, mafiosi should not openly support each other.

One of the mafia players, preferably in agreement with others (if there is such a possibility), can reveal themselves as a false sheriff iin order to confuse the game and put civilians on the wrong trail.

Citizen

Peaceful is a basic game map, also called a city card. All participants who did not get another role automatically receive a peaceful card. Thus, the number of civilians is determined by the number of other roles in the game.

What should a peaceful player do?

At night, a peaceful player has no active actions. However, during the day the peaceful form the majority, which determines the course of the game. Peaceful people, like others, can discuss, nominate and vote. It is the peaceful ones who determine the victory of the town.

Doctor

A basic role that requires at least 4 players in the game. The host must enable the role in the room settings. The doctor plays on the side of civilian and his task is to guess who might die at night and save civilian lives.

The doctor's task is to guess the night's choice of the killing role (mafia or maniac) and, thereby, save the victim. If the doctor chooses the same player as the mafia or maniac at night, then this player survives.

Features of the role of a doctor in the mafia

The doctor can heal himself. A doctor cannot heal the same person (including himself) two nights in a row. However, after skipping one night, he can heal the same player again. The doctor can save a person even if two attempts were fired at him at night. The Doctor can save the Lady, Sheriff, Peaceful, in general, absolutely any player. The Doctor cannot prevent a Bulletproof vest from being destroyed.

Doctor: game strategy

In the initial stages, if there is no suspicion of who might be killed, a good strategy is to heal yourself, to guess the mafia's choice, you need to carefully monitor the progress of the game and notice the details. When a sheriff is revealed, the doctor should heal this player. However, if two players are revealed to be sheriffs (at least one of them is a false sheriff), then the doctor should refrain from treating either sheriff.

Police

Also known as policeman, cop, commissioner. This is one of the most important peaceful roles in the game. To assign this role, a minimum of 5 participants is required; the leader must activate the sheriff card in the room settings.

The role of the commissioner in the game can hardly be overestimated. Every night the sheriff can check one of the players and find out for sure whether he is a mafia or not. With this information, the sheriff can tell the city the next day whether the checked player.

Sheriff - role feature

The peculiarity of this role is that based on the results of the night check, the result is given - the mafia or not. The cop doesn't know the exact role of the person being checked. After all the mafiosi have been eliminated of the game, the sheriff can also identify the maniac. In this case, in the results of the night check, the Sheriff will be informed that a maniac has been identified. A night check cannot reveal the card of a spy who also belongs to the mafia team.

Commissioner Role Strategy

The commissioner must check the participant who is most suspected. If he turns out to be innocent, the commissioner must verbally defend him so that he is not mistakenly voted during the day. Do this only if suspicion falls on a trusted player, so as not to give yourself away ahead of time. If the inspection reveals a mafia or maniac, the commissioner should immediately inform the city about this. The policeman should not give himself away, especially in the early stages (first or second day), otherwise he risks quickly leaving the game, being killed by the mafia. If another player is revealed to be the sheriff, you should actively defend your role, with the help of arguments and using the speeches of this player and knowledge from his votes in previous days (this information is available in the Game Log) to prove to the city who the real sheriff is. Never direct your check to a false sheriff, since his role is already clear to you.

Spy

The role of a spy in the mafia game is very interesting. The game becomes more complex when you play Spy into the dark. This creates a many opportunities for various types of bluffs. A minimum of 5 people are needed to distribute this role. The spy plays for the Mafia and provides them with an alibi and support.

What does a spy do?

This card plays for the mafia and helps them win in the day phase of the game. The spy can divert the discussion away from the mafia cards, shifting the focus to other, peaceful players. Since the spy is part of the mafia team, the victory of the spy is possible only as long as at least one mafioso is alive. At night, the spy does not perform any active actions.

Features of the spy role

A unique feature of this role is that the Mafia members do not know who the Spy is. The spy, on the other hand, sees who the mafia is from the very beginning. The sheriff will never be able to detect a spy during a night check.

Spy Role Strategy

At the beginning of the game, the main task of a spy is to make it clear to the mafia that he is their spy without others realizing it that others do not realize it. If the mafiosi can't guess who the spy is, they may mistakenly kill the spy at night. If a spy reveals himself to peaceful players, he may be eliminated from the game the next day during voting. Lady

To distribute the role of the Lady, 5 players are needed, the leader must include this role in the distribution. She is also known as the Lady or Mistress. In our game, this role can block a player for one game day. Additionally, this role has a powerful feature that makes playing with it especially challenging.

What does the Lady do in the game?

The lady is a role that plays for the city and helps the city win. At night, the lady chooses one player who the next day will not be able to speak or vote, while remaining in the game. The Lady's action extends to one game day, but the Mistress can repeat her actions with the same person many times.

Lady Character Feature

The peculiarity of this role is that if the Lady is killed at night, the one she chose is eliminated along with her. This feature gives this card a special power, which can go both for the benefit of the city and for its detriment.

Lady: game strategy

The Mistress character has the most weight at the end of the game, since with her right choice at night, the Lady can destroy or silence the Mafia. The price of a vote increases at the end of the game, so the oability to control even a single vote also becomes especially important. At the beginning of the game, she can damage the city with her wrong choice. If the Lady is killed, the person she chose dies too. Thus, by destroying the Lady at the beginning, the mafioso has a good chance of destroying two red cards at once. Therefore, you should ecaution is essential on the first or second day of this role. Revealing your role immediately after the cards are dealt (intentional or accidental) almost always leads to the death of the character.

Serial Killer

A minimum of 6 people is required for distribution. There can only be one Serial Killer in the game. The Serial Killer plays solo, he has no team, and both civilians and mafias are equally dangerous to him. His goal is to destroy the entire city. It's very difficult to win as a Serial Killer.

What does a Serial Killer do in the mafia game?

The Serial Killer is a lone assassin. His goal is to eliminate everyone. At night, the Serial selects a victim who dies. The Doctor can save the victim if he selects her on the same night. At night, Mafia and Serial can kill each other. While the both Serial and Mafia in the game, two players can die during the night.

Feature of the role of a maniac

The peculiarity of this role is that the policeman cannot detect a Serial Killer during a night inspections, as long as at least one mafioso is alive.

Maniac strategy game

At the initial stages, the greatest danger for a Serial Killer is mafia (since it can kill him), so at the beginning of the game it is beneficial for him to cooperate with the peaceful roles in order to identify and kill competitors. Later, the greatest danger for the Serial Killer is the sheriff, who can check on him. Throughout the game, it is important for the Serial Killer to remain invisible. When playing in the dark it is very important for the Serial Killer to pretend to be one of the dead in time (“steal the role”) so that he is not suspected. Since the police cannot detect the Serial Killer while the mafiosi are alive, it may be a good strategy to be checked by the sheriff at the very beginning of the game to create an alibi for yourself.

Bulletproof

The card is also known as Lucky. A minimum of 4 people is required for distribution. There can only be one Bulletproof player in the game. Bulletproof — a player with body armor playing for a team of civilians. He can become a real thorn in the side for the Mafioso and help the city win.

What does Bulletproof do?

If you get the Lucky card, your role is the same as that of an ordinary civilian. The only difference is that, unlike the peaceful card, you have a bulletproof vest that saves your character from attacks at night. After Lucky is attacked by Night, his armor is destroyed and he can be killed the next night.

Features of the role of Lucky

If Lucky's body armor is active, he can withstand an unlimited number of attacks during one night. The bulletproof vest does not save the player if he was imprisoned during the day. Also, the Bulletproof Vest will not save if Lucky was chosen by the Lady, who was killed on the same Night (see Character Features of the Lady). The doctor's treatment may save Lucky, but it will not save his bulletproof vest from destruction. Rules of conduct
